my job

There's a longer story behind it all.

I'll save that story for another day.

But, there's no doubt, God was definitely working
in all the details aligning for my

opportunity to work at Open Door Baptist Church.

Since July 19th, I have been working
as the Ministry Assistant of ODBC.
The office is open 9 AM - 2 PM.
I assist the four ministers, answer the phone and the door,
publish weekly bulletins, pay the bills, send out daily church emails,
start-up church website, order supplies, etc, etc.
I absolutely love my job.
It's a great blessing to work
in an awesome environment with wonderful people.
I do not dread going to work each morning.
And that's definitely a huge blessing! :)

birthday party in Heaven

I'm not sure birthdays are celebrated in Heaven.
But, yesterday was my Dad's 50th birthday
and I like to think that there was a party in Heaven.
With all our loved ones already there.

When I stand beside His grave and remember
the horrible day we laid Him to rest there,
I smile remembering that He is not there, but in Heaven.

While I place a "Happy Birthday" balloon on His grave
with the new flower from his sister,
I know that no 'gift' could compare to Heaven.

As I think of the 'what if's' and 'might have been's,'
I know God's plan is perfect and this is just what He planned.

While I am sad and missing Daddy here.
He is happy, rejoicing, and free of pain.
And I do not 'wish him back.'

Although, days like this are tough and emotional,
I can face them with hope and know
that with each passing day
Heaven is closer for me.

Wow! It has been quite some time since I last blogged.
Actually over a month.
Our laptop has a virus.
And we're still deciding on what to do about that.
Working again has been a HUGE adjustment for me.
And life has just been plain busy, as you will see:

During the month of September:
My Tahoe spent nearly two weeks in the shop
with a broken AC and a non-functioning fuel pump.
It was a wonderful feeling to be reunited.
We partied with my sweet cousin/'sis'/friend, Ashley on her birthday.
The 6th marked 13 years of dating for me and Chris. :)
Swimming, pool parties, swimming, and more swimming.
Spent a weekend celebrating sweet Samuel's first birthday.
We thoroughly enjoyed visiting with all the folks in Virginia.
Our church was in revival for a week with Rev. Lynn Head.
God is doing awesome things in the lives of His children.
On the 18th, we along with friends hit Dollywood for the day.
And that was a complete BlAsT!
At our church's ladies meeting, we shared DELICIOUS recipes.
I enjoyed getting some new recipes to add to my collection.
Chris had to work a weekend or too. (BUMMER)
Since he is sleeping during the day,
it is rather boring for me -- and too quiet!
I walked with some friends in our local Disability Awareness Walk.
My cousin, Adam, preached at our church on Sunday, the 26th.
What a great service that was!
And between all the activities, life happened ...
you know ... laundry, dirty dishes, etc.
I plan to be back to blogging regularly.
