randoms & confessions

I have a lot of random thoughts.  And these days, I'm doing some crazy things that are worth a laugh.

-Monday morning, on my way to work, I stopped for a drink and a pack of crackers.  As I was leaving the store, I realized all I had in hand was my phone, cash, drink, and pack of crackers -- yep, I had locked my keys in my car.  After a long ordeal of getting Chris' keys, I stepped out to get into my car and dropped my drink and it spilled all over the sidewalk.  Needless to say, my Monday didn't get off to a good start.

-My mom made me think when she said, "What if your baby had been in the car?"  (can you tell - this is not the first time I've had this happen?)  And I'm not an advocate of leaving babies in the car, but I had pulled right to the door of the store and was only grabbing a drink and crackers.  So, I made a note reminding myself to lock the door with the remote so that I know my keys are always in my hand when exiting the vehicle.
-Monday night we were in bed and most likely asleep by 9:00 PM.  What can I say, rough Mondays call for early bedtimes.

-This week I sold my first item on one of the Facebook used item sale group pages.

-I got these Dr. Brown bottles at a steal from several friends (all 25 bottles for less than $30).  I've already put them in the kitchen cabinet.  It's beginning to look like a baby is coming to live at our house.  :)
-Prior to becoming pregnant, I thought a lot of people too often used pregnancy as an excuse just to have an excuse.  Boy, was I wrong.  I am finding that a lot of those excuses are in fact legitimate.  "Pregnancy brain" is a real problem and your body does indeed feel totally different and energy is a thing of the past.

-I think Thumpy is catching on that big changes are ahead.  Over the past two weeks, we have transitioned her out of our bed.  Since I've dubbed Chris the "mean guy" and he is enforcing the new rule, her dog bed and blanket is placed on his side of the bed.  Tuesday morning, I woke up, and she had pulled her blanket to my side of the bed and was sleeping on my side.  She is quite the spoiled fur-baby.  This picture is the typical evening routine when Chris gets home from work.
-Every few weeks our ice maker "floods" and the water runs out of the fridge.  Anyone ever have this problem?

-I was going through a stack of paperwork and mail - found a bank envelope with $40 inside. What a nice surprise!
-I am already over cold weather.  I needed to go to Wal-Mart Tuesday night, but opted to wait simply because I didn't want to get out in the cold ... I'm ready for June for more reasons than just warm weather.  ;)

a bunch of randomness

My thoughts for today:
  • For dinner last night, I cooked spicy chicken sandwiches with pepper jack cheese (a mix of Chick-Fil-A's sandwich's breading and Wendy's sandwich's flavor). Chris thoroughly enjoyed. And I made no-bake peanut butter oatmeal cookies for him. So, can I go shopping Saturday, babe?
  • I'm loving this gorgeous, beautiful, perfect weather. And the spectacular blooming of flowers ... irises, thrift, camelia bush, and azaleas have budded! Love it!
  • I did not drink caffeine at all on Wednesday. I survived without it 3/4 of the day on Thursday ... then caved and drank approximately six ounces. Don't ask about Friday so far?
  • Chris and I love to play "Words With Friends" on our phones -- I won two games yesterday! :)
  • I walked with a friend yesterday afternoon. Exercising feels great - but, why is it so hard to muster up the motivation to do it regularly? (I have two excuses ... (1) I do not like exercising indoors. (2) I have a phobia of exercising alone in public.)
  • Yesterday, it was proposed to add a few duties and 5 additional work hours a week to my job. I accepted. [Duh] I (heart) my job!
  • God answers prayer!! This was the 'theme' of the service at church on Wednesday. And Thursday ... I heard of not one, not two, not three, but of FOUR prayers being answered for me/friends/family! {see previous bullet} Praise the Lord!
  • I disassembled and cleaned our front porch light yesterday. Thousands of bugs had met their death inside the globe. And the light shone brighter last night. Note: I'm spring cleaning a little at a time -- I may be finished by September.
  • I've lost/misplaced/hidden a set of keys. And I need to find them [like yesterday].
  • You know you're aging when .... the eye doctor mentions 'cataracts' during your check-up. Yep, at my appointment this week, when my eyes were dilated, the doc said he saw pheripheral cataracts. I said, "I'm only 29!!!" He said, "It's okay, we'll worry about them 30 years from now."
  • Thank goodness, it's Friday!! ((insert much rejoicing)) Yes, I do love my job. But, I enjoy sleeping in and all the extra activities of the weekend. Oh, and duties of laundry and yard work are beckoning.
What are you thinking?

random phone pics with thoughts

Dum-Dum suckers make little girls giddy and oh, so silly!
I love this little one to pieces!
We've had a lot of rain lately.
I'm so thankful for the rain, but I'm a sunshine-craving girl.
Saturday night, my mom, my 'sisters,' "L," and I
went to a Girls Night Out concert with Anita Renfroe and Mandisa.
This silly girl enjoyed it. She loves Mandisa!

Thumpy says "good-bye" to Chris.
He is leaving for work.
(see her holding his hands -- so cute)
Come on, Spring!
I love-love-love Spring.
Flowers bloom and summer is on it's way.

crazy confessions

  • I confess -- I'm struggling and becoming frustrated with learning how to use my new cell phone. I'm not-so tech savvy. I often send blank test messages. And do not log off of Facebook, therefore, I am 'on' FB chat 24/7.
  • However, I have completed the Angry Birds game app. I am 'addicted', I confess.
  • I am extremely clumsy and klutzy. Saturday evening, I confess, I ran into the corner of an open kitchen cabinet door - got smacked in the forehead - I now have a bruise and bump.
  • I confess - I took a 2-hour nap with my sleeping 3rd shift husband yesterday afternoon. Probably, because, after a weekend of beautiful weather, I have a serious case of the 'blahs.'
  • And lastly, I confess, although I am 'caught up' on washing many, many loads of laundry (6 to be exact) - it all remains unfolded, piled high on my kitchen table. I did cook dinner last night, nevertheless, we didn't eat at the table. lol.

just thinking

I anticipate having internet available at home next week. =))
Blogging regularly again may happen soon. YAY!
I failed to blog about several important dates.
I have a lot of 'catching up' to do on documenting memories.
I've missed sorting through and spilling out my thoughts.
Fast-paced continues to describe our life.
But, I'm trying more and more to live in the moment.
Trying NOT to focus on tomorrow or the next big event.
Realizing that today matters.
Every single hour counts.
And I desire to accomplish a mission with lasting effects.
God has given me this day,
these hours, these minutes, each second.
I do not want to waste what I've been given.

ain't feeling too bloggy

How's that for some southern talk?
It has been 6 days since the last post.
And honestly, that was an old post that I scheduled out.
Life has been busy lately.
(and that's mildly stating the facts)
I started a new job ... more details on that later.
I've been cleaning house like a mad-lady.
Organizing, organizing, and more organizing.
Spending time with Chris.
Helping my friend, T.
I've been rising early at the beckon of an alarm clock.
(sometimes before the sun rises)
And crashing after midnight on most nights.
So, when there is little time for blogging, I'm exhausted and tired
and well, my brain just isn't functioning properly to form a post.
So, there's the reason for my absence.
I hope to be back at it soon.
As soon as the pace slows a little,
and I find the new normal. :)
Tootles!

not me! monday

Welcome to my sporadic edition of Not me! Monday.
This blog carnival was created by MckMama.

I have my moments! Good and bad.
And recently, I've had a few not-so-good moments
that I'd prefer to forget or pretend never-ever happened:

I did not ignore the ever-growing pile of laundry.
Never would 10 days worth of laundry be found in my house.
Nope! Not me - I stay on top of laundry.
And because Chris' pick of clean clothes
was considerably slim,
he would NOT be caught dead wearing this shirt to work. Never!
(of course, I'm sure he kept his jacket on and buttoned)

After removing the sheets from our bed for said laundry,
I did not avoid putting on clean sheets,
and I, most certainly, did not sleep without sheets,
not one, but two, maybe three nights.
Nope, I'm not [that] lazy.

Amidst these rushed and crazy days,
you did not hear me proclaim that our bedroom looked like
that of a filthy teenager ... piles of clothes here and there
from changing in a mad hurry to dash out the door again.

Oh, and one more thing, that was NOT my husband you saw
pulled over with blue lights behind his truck.
He was not speeding - seriously.
Nor was he weaving.
And the cop did not ask if he'd been drinking.
(this isn't the last you'll read of this story - more to come)

Ahh. Feels good to come clean and admit my short-comings.
And yes, all my dirty laundry is clean now!

strange random photography moment

Cinderella has lost her slipper.
not sure she'd want to find it in this junk pile.
or at least i don't think she would want the owner
of this junk pile for a prince!

ha! ha!

not me! monday

welcome to my very own, not me! monday!
this blog carnival was created by MckMama.
and with so much continuing to be crazy in our life.
i think my brain has been left behind road-side.
cause, i've had a few downright brain-less, not me! moments.
and here are a few:

i would never allow our household
to run out of tissue paper,
since, you know, it is a necessity.
you would never hear me yelling
"just use kleenexes!"
absolutely not!

while taking a shower,
i did not wash my hair once, but, twice with conditioner,
all the while, wondering why it didn't suds up?
nope, not me!

since my chocolate no-bake oatmeal cookies had not "set up",
and there was no clean cookie sheet in sight,
and no free 9x13 glass dish,
i did not just pick up the stretch of wax paper - cookies and all,
place them in the bottom of a clothes basket,
and transport them to mom's for dinner.
who me?? -- no, never!

i did not get so frustrated with our dog
that i called her a student's name,
yelling, "no, john doe!"
and "stop that, john doe!"
not me! never!

HA! HA!
confession. good for the soul.
and good for a laugh.
have at it. laugh at me - with me.

Not Me! Monday

Welcome to my very own, first Not Me! Monday!
This blog carnival was created by MckMama.

In the fast lane on the road of life, and functioning with half a brain, I've had quite a few occasions lately that were followed by a quick look around to see if anyone noticed my mishaps. And I thought I'd join in the fun therapy this week and share some of my Not Me! moments:
I did not get excited and purchase my first box of chocolate covered cherries of the Christmas season only to devour the entire box within 24 hours. Nope, Not Me!
In trying to catch a few more winks of sleep, I absolutely did not take the time to wash my hair for 4 days. And I would never throw my hair up in a sloppy, messy do like this:
And on one of those rushed mornings, I most certainly did not show up to school and have a fellow teacher ask "is your zipper zipped?" Oops! - I would never be so rushed to forget that important detail.
And I have it all together and keep the perfect little classroom, so you'd never find this empty bulletin board in my class, and definitely not for weeks on end:
Of course, I always remember to pack everything, so I'd always have my iron and never throw Chris' Sunday clothes in the dryer in effort to "iron" them. Dress pants must have nice little perfectly ironed creases. And everyone will notice a dress shirt unironed.
Okay, I did it! And there's actually more ... but, maybe I'll share another time - if I live to tell about it all.
