play me some bluegrass music

Last weekend there was a festival in our little town.

One of our favorite bluegrass groups, Third Tyme Out,
was playing on stage that evening.(Chris and Brian)
We grabbed dinner @ Zaxby's with friends, Brian and Casey.
And headed over to get a good seat around 5:45 PM.(New Dixie Storm)
We enjoyed a few local musicians
waiting for Third Tyme Out to come on stage at 8:00 PM. (Third Tyme Out) - Russell Moore can sing!!!
A few times, we thought an afternoon thunderstorm was headed our way, but no rain fell and the threat was just enough to cool things down a little. So it turned out quite nice for the evening. Stephen and Christina showed up a little later.Kolben and Klay enjoyed a blue snow cone - can you tell?
Kolben wanted to see his tongue; so I took his picture.
Then of course, little brother had to see his too. ;)Nap? --- NOT! :) We topped the evening off with peach homemade ice cream.
(needed more sugar and the peaches were at the bottom)
It was so not sweet and peachy -
that Chris and Brian mixed in peanut butter for PB ice cream.
Crazies!
But, it was all fun!
I love summertime weekends.

a first: swimming in the middle of the lake

When we left for the lake,

I had absolutely no intention of swimming,
for the following reasons:
#1 - I prefer swimming in water where I can see the bottom.
# 2 - I'm not the world's best swimmer.
#3 - I don't know what is in the water with me.
BUT, it was very hot on the middle of the lake.
So my brother jumped in.
And of course, he encouraged me to jump in.
So, to oblige him and others ... I got in.
For the most part, I sat on a wacky noodle.
And was out in less than fifteen minutes.
So, I can write it down.
I swam in the middle of the lake.
And I still don't like the idea.

Saturday, my mom, my brother and I headed to the lake.
To relax. Catch some sun. And be together.
Chris had previously obligated himself to work,
so we missed him.
But, the lake is a beautiful place.Mom enjoyed it (for the most part)
She's not keen on waves, fast boats, etc.
She has a slight fear of water since she can't swim.My crazy, fun brother dancing to his music.After boarding, we picked up a couple of cousins at the landing.
Here, cousin W, is taking it all in.
We tried to determine different landmarks on the lake.Me and Kev in our sun-spectacles.Can we say "windblown?"On the way back to the marina. :(Why do fun-filled days always end quickly?

incredibly awesome

and totally wonderful weekend,

with sad occasions, happy times,
and laughing hysterically moments,
filled with family, friends, food,
sunshine (and rain), the lake, and church.Now it is Monday. And I'm wiped out.
I've not been out of bed for very long. And I'm yawning now.
I didn't feel very well last night. Not sure of the cause.
Probably my food and caffeine intake for the weekend
exceeded my normal level. :)
Or maybe I need more of this ---My house is a disaster.
Busy weekend = messy, cluttered house.
And I'm sad.
I miss my brother ... again.I don't have much energy or emotion to blog.
So, these few pictures will do.
Maybe tonight I will blog details and more pictures. Happy Monday -- hope you're week is great.
Ours is not (too) busy.
I hope to accomplish two major tasks.

and there was bluegrass on Saturday

bluegrass concerts don't happen too often in these parts.
so you jump at every chance you get
(according to Chris.)
thankfully, he's a little picky in his choosing.
he only likes a few certain bands.
so that sets some limits.
but, then, when there are two concerts in one weekend,
with bands he prefers,
he, of course, wants to attend both,
you know,
"because good bluegrass doesn't happen often, Liv."

so, this past weekend we attended both.

bluegrass on Friday night
and Saturday there was a festival at a local downtown.
there was bluegrass from 12-2 PM.
New Dixie Stormand this dobro "picker," Glen,
is a local.

we gathered with some of our family

for a little Saturday night fun.

ate pizza, wings, and breadsticks.

delicious brownies and other sweet goodies.

we enjoyed talking together

and laughing, and more laughing.

played a few games of ping pong.

played a round or two of Wii bowling.

then broke out the Rockband.

there's some things you don't have to teach kids.
like rhythm and dancing -- it just comes natural.

friday could not get here fast enough.

yea. yea. i know. i know.

i should not wish away the days.

next, i'll be wondering where the time goes.

but, this week was not much fun.
and took forever to pass.
i'm glad it's behind me.

today, i'm excited for the weekend.
staying put here - no traveling.
and although i'll miss home,
we've got fun plans with friends here.
