Psalm 31:15
"My times are in thy hands ..."

whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer,
believing, ye shall receive."

The LORD will guide you always;
he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land
and will strengthen your frame.
You will be like a well-watered garden,
like a spring whose waters never fail.
In the past 2.5 weeks, two of my mom's family members,
my grandma and my aunt,
have received the diagnosis of cancer.
While uncertainty looms and tears flow,
I have this assurance --
God is always there.
God supplies just what we need when we need it.
God still answers prayer.
Most of all, God loves me and He is with me.

Christmas beauties
I love seeing little girls in Christmas dresses.
It reminds me of the thrill
of wearing a new dress at Christmas when I was a young girl.
Actually, I still enjoy wearing new clothes.
Christmas day I took a few pictures
of my 2 'nieces' in their Christmas attire.
Little, A, posed so sweetly for the camera.
Flashing her contagious grin.
Holding a teddy bear.
In her new little red rocker from Ol' Pa and Gigi.
Check out those sparkling baby blue eyes.

thankful for friends
I love my friends.
Good friends are hard to find.
We meet our friends, T&L and their daughter,
at Outback on December 30th.
We had an amazing time together - laughing and catching up.

it's a biscuit!
My mama bakes the tastiest, lightest, fluffiest biscuits.
They are great with jelly.
They are great with sausage.
They are great with gravy.
They are great eaten all by themselves.
I've watched her 'whip' up a pan of biscuits many times.
It is one of my life-long dreams to bake biscuits like hers.
Not long after Chris and I married, I attempted my first biscuits.
Sorry, there's no picture,
but my ratio of shortening to flour/milk was too high.
The 'biscuits' were hard as a rock.
No kidding - Chris threw one into the yard and it didn't break.
Our dog didn't even eat it.
It was that bad.
I was so embarrassed.
It was literally YEARS before I attempted again.
The 2nd time I followed a recipe. Still no good.
I'd rather have a can of biscuits from the refrigerated section.
Or a bag from the frozen section.
But, recently, my cousin, Bradley, has taken up cooking.
And he has cooked biscuits from Southern Biscuit Flour.
I thought, if Bradley can do it ... I can do it.
So, I promptly purchased a bag of Southern Biscuit Flour.
And this past Monday, since we were snowed in,
I attempted biscuits. Again.
Much better. Slightly tasty. And Chris devoured 3 or 4.
And Thumpy even liked these.
But, they still don't taste like Mama's.
They are great with jelly.
They are great with sausage.
They are great with gravy.

it's all fun and games
When the family gets together,
there's no telling what will happen.
We share hugs and smiles.
We have loads and loads of fun.
Piles of rough-housing. Pillow fights.
We play with my childhood toys.
Try out new board games (Dicecapades).
Balance on one foot while stacking dice in hand.
Arm wrestling matches.

There's definitely no end to the entertainment
and enjoyment that abounds when we're all together.
And we wouldn't have it any other way.

If you give a girl a camera ....
she'll probably take
many, many
silly, funny pictures
of herself

it's a new chapter
Each year is a chapter in the book of life.
As the final page of my 2010 has been written,
I stand in awe at all that has transpired.
Many exciting things have taken place.
Many changes. Many surprises. Many questions.
What a year!
For my resolutions of 2010. Some were successful. Some not so.
My relationship with God has strengthened as I have learned so much. In the 'busy-ness' and new crazy normal of our life, I tried to be a better friend/family to all those close to me, but I know I failed at times. In 2011, I want to commit to do even more in the community and world. Changes will come if only one step at a time. As for healthy choices, I had 'moments' in 2010 ... but for the most part I too often was in a hurry and chose the fast-food option. :) And caffeine was a necessity at times.
As I turn the page and ponder what will be in 2011.
My resolutions will somewhat remain the same.
Basically, for 2011 to be better than any other year.
To be a better person.
Most importantly, to be more of the woman God would have me be.
So just as each day is a clean start,
so is a brand spanking-new year.
Fresh. Bright. New. No mistakes.
And, thankfully this remains the same:
God is mine. I am His.
And another remains sure:
God knows the entire book of my life.
So, as I begin this new chapter, I'll walk with Him
and He'll be with me each step of the way come what may.
