babysitting

Every now and then,

if our crazy work schedules allow,
I will help a friend out
and babysit,
BUT I only babysit cute kids. :)

what to do ... when I don't know what to do

Excellent encouraging, revival sermon.
I keep coming back to this one.
So often, I find myself in one of these places.

When my back is to the wall and I don't know what to do ...
-Have faith in God. Trust anyhow! (this should be my first response)
-Listen to the Word of God {Psalm 119:105}
-Trust in the Lord with all my heart {Proverbs 3:5}
-Like Job, be confident that the Lord knoweth the way I take {Job 23:10}
-Even in my darkest hour, He is still God
-Stay. Be Still. Hang on. --- He has the answer!

When I don't know how to pray or what to pray for ...
-It's okay to weep before the Lord
-He 'hears' the unutterable 'gushings' of my heart
-Tears are a language God understands
-He knows what I need before I ask
-Pray God's will be done ("Not my will, but Thy will)
-He doesn't need my instruction

When I don't know what to say to others ...
-Sometimes wisdom can be found in silence
-My smartest response may be no response at all
-"Study to be quiet"
-God gave me 2 eyes, 2 ears, and 1 mouth
-"Swift to hear; slow to speak"
-Some do not need my thoughts or words,
only a shoulder to cry on and an ear to listen

dinner w/ friends

Thursday night, Chris and I met friends for dinner.

Since "C's" birthday was Wednesday,
she choose the restaurant.
Chris was thrilled! -- she chose Los Amigos.The outdoor patio was empty when we arrived.
So, we enjoyed this perfect weather - it was awesome!
We talked and talked and then talked some more.
Fun conversations about getting older, our jobs,
funny jokes, dieting, music (David Phelps and Jason Crabb),
old people stories, eye doctors, and such.
Before we knew we'd been there nearly 2 hours.
And we kept right on talking in the parking lot.Great times!!
Hope you had a happy birthday, C!
You're an amazing friend - thanks for being there for me.
PS -- I'm elated that you're becoming a Phelps Phan!

bluegrass under the stars

A beautiful Saturday spring eveningwith awesome friends and Mexican food,bluegrass music,deep-fried oreos, funnel cakes, & boiled peanuts, cool cousins,face paint,cuddling with sweet boys,some bands "livelier" than others - rockin' out tunes,fireworks, and tons of fun.It doesn't get much better than that!

a Friday funny

Chris' pajamas hanging from the light fixture.

At least Chris thinks this is funny. The other day, I asked him to put away and hang up some clothes he left around the house. Since I wasn't specific in where the clothes should be put, he, being a smarty-pants, just hung the clothes here and there and everywhere. Cute? -- I don't think so. :)

bums

Today, we are being bums.

Well, not entirely.
I randomly took the day off. (with the Rev's approval)
I'm feeling overwhelmed on the home front.
We're in revival this week. So that makes for a busy week.
And I have a busy weekend ahead.
Today, I just needed a day at home.

So today my plans are:
1. Be a bum. Sleep late with Chris.
2. Get my house back in order.

I took the above picture Sunday night.
It captures a favorite time with Chris.
Chris loves to "take two;"
which means to stop what we're doing and cuddle for two minutes.
Sometimes we end up taking five, seven, or ten minutes.
(or maybe longer; especially if we fall asleep)
Notice, he still has on his 'church' shirt.
But he changed into his pajama pants. {Mismatched plaids} :)
And yes, he is really asleep.
Thumpy had been asleep, but the flash on my phone startled her.

Every now and then, I need a day to be a bum.

new glasses and contacts

We recently had eye appointments.
And Monday, I picked up my new glasses
and Chris picked up his contacts.
Afterward, we headed to the local Mexican restaurant.
We had the best afternoon talking and laughing together.
Sitting close together on one side of the booth.
